Office of International Programs – UNIC Mobility Hub is delighted to present the Virtual Mobility opportunity for Koç Students to experience working with students and teachers from another country, test new learning methods, get to see different lecture styles and practice a multidisciplinary approach. Virtual Exchange is also an opportunity for making connections with your fellow students across Europe. 

 

What is UNIC Virtual Semester Exchange? 

UNIC Virtual Semester Exchange is a new opportunity for students who would like to experience international exchange at home. 

Virtual Mobility means Koç University students and partner institution students can take courses in their own institutions without leaving physically, while also attending and completing courses of the host (partner) institution in a virtual environment. 

 

UNIC Virtual Mobility is a significant opportunity for students to meet and work with other cultures without facing any psychical and/or financial barriers. In scope of this project, UNIC is opening a multidisciplinary course catalogue for all UNIC students for Virtual Mobility.

Please note that not all UNIC partners open courses every semester. Therefore, please identify your desired course(s) based on the course lists provided. 

Important: Please also note that semester dates of the partner universities may differ from each other. Thus, please check relevant information such as the official website of the partner university, KU Institutional Partners List, UNIC course list, academic calendar, factsheet etc. of the partner university you would like to enroll in.

Who is eligible to apply? 

Applicants must be registered at KU as full-degree undergraduate or graduate students at the time of application. 

 

GPA Requirement 

  • Minimum GPA for Undergraduate: GPA of 2.2 
  • Minimum GPA for Graduate: GPA of 2.5 

 

Language Requirement 

Applicants need to have a document indicating their level of English proficiency and have the specified minimum score for the examination. 

  • TOEFL IBT 80 
  • IELTS 6.5 
  • KUEPE 60 
  • TOEFL PBT 550 
  • Koç TOEFL 550 

 

As a certificate of English language proficiency, Master’s and Doctoral program students can submit one of the following: 

  • GRE Verbal Reasoning minimum score of 135 
  • GMAT Verbal Session score minimum of 15

Selection: 

  • Selection is done based on 50% Academic achievement + 50% Language score (100-point system).   
  • Students who have not previously participated in Erasmus+ (KA131, KA171), Global Exchange, and Summer Exchange programs will receive +10 points.   
  • Disabled students receive +10 points if proving documents are provided in the application.   
  • Students who have previously participated in the UNIC virtual exchange program will receive -5 points. 

Students will be ranked according to their score and be determined as candidates for the virtual courses of their preferred institutions in their applications. 

Selected Students will be announced on the UNIC Mobility Hub’s website. 

IMPORTANT: Being selected by OIP does not guarantee your enrolment in these courses. Once the selection process is done by OIP, you will be nominated to host institutions for the courses listed in your application form. 

 

Recognition of Courses: 

At the end of the semester, for grade/credit transfer students must submit to their College or Graduate School the transcripts showing the grades of the courses they took from the partner institutions. 

If the GPA of all courses taken in partner institutions as part of the program is below 2.00, all courses shall be transferred with their grades, whether they have a valid grade. If the GPA of all the courses taken in one semester as part of the virtual exchange program is over 2.00, upon request, at the end of the program, students can transfer all courses they have taken along with grades, or they can transfer only the credits of all courses. However, partial transfers of credits or grades cannot be made. 

IMPORTANT: 

  • Koç University students can take virtual courses from one of the partner institutions or from several at the same time, but this must be implemented in accordance with YÖK rules. Students can attend a maximum of 40% of the courses they take online, and 50% of their curriculum must consist of non-transfer courses. 
  • A Koç University student can take courses equivalent to 30 KU credits (60 ECTS) under the virtual exchange program during their educational life at KU. If the credit total of the courses taken exceeds this limit, the grades/credits of these courses shall not be transferred to KU. 
  • Koç University students can benefit from the virtual exchange program for more than one semester during their educational life at KU. 
  • Students who pay tuition fees at KU shall continue to pay their tuition fees to KU. 
  • Due to the nature of virtual mobility, which means following courses from one’s home country, there is no grant provided for virtual exchange.

In 2020, Koc University became a member of the “European Universities Initiative” of the EU by being a member of the “UNIC” consortium and in scope of this project and Virtual Semester Exchange Program, Koç University is offering a variety of courses to all UNIC students for Spring 2024 semester.

  • Applicants are required to have good academic standing
  • All courses at Koc University are offered in English. Therefore, applicants are required to be fluent in English language. 
  • Some courses offered by KU might have prerequisites. Therefore, UNIC students are highly advised to check the course catalogue carefully. 

  

Important Remarks: 

Please note that this form is required for only collecting requests for Virtual Exchange at Koç University. 

To be able to enroll in courses, students who would like to attend virtual exchange at KU are required to make course planning and enrolment after they receive their username and password for logging in Koç University Academic Information System, called KUSIS (Koc University Student Information System). 

For KUSIS, your username and password will be created by Koc University Registrar and Student Affairs Office following the deadline of completing the application form. Once your credentials are ready, you will be informed by Koc University UNIC Mobility Hub. 

We would like to emphasize that course planning and course enrolment are two separate processes. Students are expected to complete course planning steps first and then course enrolment. 

Important: Please keep in mind that, due to the prerequisites and reserved capacity, you may not take all the courses you plan. 

  

After Mobility 

At the end of the semester, students’ transcripts will be issued by KU and will be sent to the home institution and students via e-mail. 

Please note that transcripts cannot be issued until all grades have been entered into the online information system, which can take up to one month after the last day of examinations.

UNIC Virtual Semester Exchange Program at Koc University Applications are now open!

Koç University (KU) invites UNIC (University of Post-Industrial Cities) students to apply for Spring 2023 Virtual Exchange Program at KU!

In 2020, Koc University became a member of the “European Universities Initiative” of the EU by being a member of the “UNIC” consortium and in scope of this project and Virtual Semester Exchange Program, Koç University is offering a variety of courses to all UNIC students for Spring 2023 semester.

Along with Koç University, the following leading institutions from Europe are members of the UNIC network:

  • Erasmus University Rotterdam (Rotterdam, the Netherlands)
  • Ruhr University of Bochum (Bochum, Germany)
  • University College Cork (Cork, Ireland)
  • University of Deusto (Bilbao, Spain)
  • University of Liège (Liege, Belgium)
  • University of Oulu (Oulu, Finland)
  • University of Zagreb (Zagreb, Croatia)
  • Malmö University (Malmö, Sweden)
  • University of Lodz (Lodz, Poland)

Calendar

Application Period: 18/01/2023 – 27/01/2023 and late applications will not be accepted.

Announcement of Course Planning Results: 31/01/2023

Students will be informed about course planning results via e-mail.

Minimum Requirements for Application:

Online application is done via Virtual Exchange Incoming Application Form.

  • All courses offered by Koc University are only open to BA/BSc level students
  • Applicants are required to have good academic standing
  • All courses at Koc University are offered in English. Therefore, applicants are required to be fluent in English language.
  • Some courses offered by KU might have prerequisites. Therefore, UNIC students are highly advised to check the course catalogue carefully.

 

Important Remarks:

Please note that this form is required for only collecting requests for Virtual Exchange at Koç University.

To be able to enroll in courses, students who would like to attend virtual exchange at KU are required to make course planning and enrolment after they receive their username and password for logging in Koç University Academic Information System, called KUSIS (Koc University Student Information System).

 

For KUSIS, your username and password will be created by Koc University Registrar and Student Affairs Office following the deadline of completing the application form. Once your credentials are ready, you will be informed by Koc University UNIC Mobility Hub.

We would like to emphasize that course planning and course enrolment are two separate processes. Students are expected to complete course planning steps first and then course enrolment.

Important: Please keep in mind that, due to the prerequisites and reserved capacity, you may not take all the courses you plan.

 

After Mobility

At the end of the semester, students’ transcripts will be issued by KU and will be sent to the home institution and students via e-mail.

Please note that transcripts cannot be issued until all grades have been entered into the online information system, which can take up to one month after the last day of examinations.

UNIC Virtual Semester Exchange Program Applications are now open!

Office of International Programs – UNIC Mobility Hub is delighted to present the Virtual Mobility opportunity for Koç Students to experience working with students and teachers from another country, test new learning methods, get to see different lecture styles and practice a multidisciplinary approach. Virtual Exchange is also an opportunity for making connections with your fellow students across Europe.

 

What is UNIC Virtual Semester Exchange?

UNIC Virtual Semester Exchange is a new opportunity for students who would like to experience international exchange at home.

Virtual Mobility means Koç University students and partner institution students can take courses in their own institutions without leaving physically, while also attending and completing courses of the host (partner) institution in a virtual environment.

UNIC Virtual Mobility is a significant opportunity for students to meet and work with other cultures without facing any psychical and/or financial barriers. In scope of this project, UNIC is opening a multidisciplinary course catalogue for all UNIC students for Virtual Mobility.

Who is eligible to apply?

 Applicants must be registered at KU as full-degree undergraduate or graduate students at the time of application.

  • GPA Requirement
  • Minimum GPA for Undergraduate: GPA of 2.2
  • Minimum GPA for Graduate: GPA of 2.5
  • Language Requirement

Applicants need to have a document indicating their level of English proficiency and have the specified minimum score for the examination.

  • TOEFL IBT 80
  • IELTS 6.5
  • KUEPE 60
  • TOEFL PBT 550
  • Koç TOEFL 550

As a certificate of English language proficiency, Master’s and Doctoral program students can submit one of the following:

  • GRE Verbal Reasoning minimum score of 135
  • GMAT Verbal Session score minimum of 15

Please make sure you upload the most up-to-date and correct application documents. After submission, no change can be made to the application or application documents.

Selection:

  • Selection is done based on 50% Academic achievement + 50% Language score (100-point system).
  • Students who have not previously participated in Erasmus+ (KA131, KA171), Global Exchange, and Summer Exchange programs will receive +10 points.
  • Disabled students receive +10 points if proving documents are provided in the application.
  • Students who have previously participated in the UNIC virtual exchange program will receive -5 points.

Students will be ranked according to their score and be determined as candidates for the virtual courses of their preferred institutions in their applications.

Selected Students will be announced on the UNIC Mobility Hub’s website.

 

IMPORTANT: Being selected by OIP does not guarantee your enrolment in these courses. Once the selection process is done by OIP, you will be nominated to host institutions for the courses listed in your application form.

 

Recognition of Courses:

At the end of the semester, for grade/credit transfer students must submit to their College or Graduate School the transcripts showing the grades of the courses they took from the partner institutions.

If the GPA of all courses taken in partner institutions as part of the program is below 2.00, all courses shall be transferred with their grades, whether they have a valid grade. If the GPA of all the courses taken in one semester as part of the virtual exchange program is over 2.00, upon request, at the end of the program, students can transfer all courses they have taken along with grades, or they can transfer only the credits of all courses. However, partial transfers of credits or grades cannot be made.

 

IMPORTANT:

  • Koç University students can take virtual courses from one of the partner institutions or from several at the same time, but this must be implemented in accordance with YÖK rules. Students can attend a maximum of 40% of the courses they take online, and 50% of their curriculum must consist of non-transfer courses.
  • A Koç University student can take courses equivalent to 30 KU credits (60 ECTS) under the virtual exchange program during their educational life at KU. If the credit total of the courses taken exceeds this limit, the grades/credits of these courses shall not be transferred to KU.
  • Koç University students can benefit from the virtual exchange program for more than one semester during their educational life at KU.
  • Students who pay tuition fees at KU shall continue to pay their tuition fees to KU.
  • Due to the nature of virtual mobility, which means following courses from one’s home country, there is no grant provided for virtual exchange.
