The Global Urban Lab Istanbul -2012 Program took place in Istanbul 25th February 2012-04th March 2012 as a collaboration of Koç University and Rice University School of Social Sciences. A total of 24 students from Rice University attended the program from different backgrounds. The conference in 2012 Spring addressed urban development and changes featuring issues and insights from Türkiye. Throughout the program, Rice students had chance to visit Beşiktaş Municipality, Istanbul Traffic Control Center, Olympic Bid Committee, Yeniköy İlköğretim Okulu and Fenerbahçe Stadium. A mini conference and student presentations were held at our İstinye Campus , where served as the base camp for the group. In comparison with the first year of the program on 2011, on 2012 twice as much student participated in the program from Rice University. “International Special Projects Department” organized the field trips, Koç faculty lectures held on İstinye Campus and taught by Koç faculty, ensured the attendance of Koç University students in the program which increased group cohesiveness and had a direct impact on the success of the program, was in charge of organizing all the logistics such as transportation, accommodation, classes, meals, social events, budgeting and a Koç University student assistant and at last, played the key role between the client and administrative and academic units of Koç University to ensure the smooth running of the affairs.
