Northwestern University Conference on Human Rights (NUCHR) -2012 Program took place in Istanbul 18th March 2012-26th March 2012 as a collaboration of Koç University and Northwestern University. A total of 12 students from Northwestern University attended the program from social sciences, economics and international relations backgrounds. The conference in 2012 Spring addressed the human rights under the topic of “From Famine to Food Deserts: The Global Food Crisis”.

Throughout the program, students had the chance to visit IHH, IKV, Tüko-Der, Istanbul Municipality, Tek Gıda-IS Sendikası and Buğday Derneği, which have been organized and supported by “International Special Projects Department”. In addition to those activities, students had chance to have a day at Koç University Fener Campus for the seminars of Koç faculty. The cultural and free time activities were also organized and the budgeting issues were also held by our department. A Koç University student assistant was a liaison between organizations, our department and the group.
