Provides a global presentation of the purpose, practices and methodologies in history-writing from the 18th to the 21st century. Examines the professionalization of history as a discipline, the importance of primary sources (such as archives) and of key notions such as causality, truth, interpretation and objectivity in history-writing.

An introduction into the history of modern political ideology by focusing on three (not all) important ideologies or ideology families of the twentieth century: Liberalism (and Neoliberalism), Socialism (and Social Democracy and Communism), and fascism (as a global phenomenon, that is including Italian Fascism, German Nazism, as well as other variants).

In this course the student will examine global and regional aspects of child health, children?s health education, basic health services, child health nursing, current status, dependent and independent functions, crisis situations and the child, nursing and the family, needs of hospitalized children, chronically ill children and the family, multidisciplinary and family-centered approaches.

In this course the student will examine comprehensive care-giving for the adult and the family with acute and chronic health problems: health promotion, prevention of illness and disability, optimization of function in illness and disability, analysis of clinical findings, clinical decision making and systematic thought-processing skills.

This course aims to provide the students with the capacity to discuss basic definitions and historical development of public health and public health nursing concepts, the role of the public health nurse, economic and cultural factors that affect health, environmental health issues, public health policies and various organizational models regarding the provision of health services.

In this course, it is aimed for the student to learn concepts, theories, principles and methods that are the basis of fundamental topics within the scope of the Course of Fundamentals of Nursing extensively and to develop the skill of using education methods. Within the scope of the course, curriculum of the course of Fundamentals of Nursing, determination of the weights of the topics and the period of the courses, selection of the methods of education according to the properties of the topics, preparation of unit plan and teaching plan, and the sample lesson presentation are focused on.

In this course, it is aimed for the student to develop the skill to use the knowledge that he/she achieves during the courses of Fundamentals of Nursing I and II, during the education and evaluation of the students taking the course of Fundamentals of Nursing. Within the scope of the course the student is expected to participate in laboratory practice with the lecturer along with other student who are participating in the Clinical Practice for the first time and achieve the skill of evaluation associated with the laboratory and the clinical practice.

During this course, the basic characteristics of the nervous system,and the basic physiological processes of sensations of seeing, hearing, learning, emotional processes, eating, sleeping and sexual behaviours are discussed related with psychopathological content. Students are expected to prepare and present a case formulation and nursing intervention related to neurophysiological processes underlying patients’ behaviors and symptoms. Students will have discussions on mental disorders defined in DSM-V. Additionally, psychopharmacological agents prescribed for mental disorders and their effects on these physiological processes are evaluated. Students are expected to define the nurses’ roles and responsibilities during psychopharmacological treatments. By the end of the class, students will have a comprehension of the relationships between physiological processes and psychopathological symptomatology. The success is determined by a final examination.

Developing skills regarding physical assessment, monitoring, treatment and nursing care with a holistic approach and education of the patients in before and after surgery in system and organ diseases requiring surgical intervention, as well as clinical decision-making and critical thinking.

Issues in global and country-wide developments and current practices in nursing practice and health are oriented to meet individual student needs

This course focuses on health-care management of the child and the adolescent using specific theory and research outcomes for the protection, promotion and regainment of health. The students are expected to develop the skills to practice and conduct research in this field.

The course aims to give the student the skills and knowledge to assess women's physical and psycho-social problems and provide care with a holistic approach, provide follow-up at home for maintenance of health care, provide counselling in protection of promotion of women?s health, and to be able identify problem areas in women?s health to conduct research.

The student will examine current topics in nursing using different perspectives and analytical methods and discuss new problem-solving approaches. Clinical decision-making and healthcare systems in medical nursing, strategy development to solve the problems, innovations, nursing care models, chronic diseases and improvement of life quality and health policies of Türkiye (i.e. socialization in health care, current health policies) will be discussed in this course.

This course provides the students with the competences to provide care for the surgical and geriatric patient having endocrine and nervous system problems with systematic approach by using knowledge of the main concepts and principles used in nursing care, evidence-based and practical knowledge current knowledge specific to field of surgical (patient safety, surgical site infection, accelerated recovery protocol, economics in surgery, application of homeostasis and homeostatic principles to patient care), informatics and care technologies; to evaluate and report the effects of given nursing care; to develop new ideas by following the development of surgical nursing in Türkiye and the world.

This course provides the students with the competences to provide care for the surgical patient having digestive, musculoskeletal, urogenital, cardiovascular system and plastic and reconstructive problems with systematic approach by using knowledge of the main concepts and principles used in nursing care, evidence-based and practical knowledge current knowledge specific to field of surgical, informatics and care technologies; to evaluate and report the effects of provided nursing care; to develop new ideas and methods related to surgical nursing by using high level mental processes as creative and critical thinking.

In this course, it is aimed for the student to understand the concept and components of care, the relationship of care-science-art, changing process in the philosophy of care and factors having a role within this process. In the course; the concept of care, components of nursing care, and approaches of care, factors influencing care, nursing care in respect to science and art, and innovations related to care are found.

This course enables the student to examine the methods and techniques used in current nursing practices extensively and to achieve the skill to develop new techniques and methods. Within the scope of the course, examination of basic concepts like science, method, technique, standard and topics on historical development process of science, method of scientific thinking, the concept of technology and evolution process of technology, method development in nursing, process of application for a patent are focused on. The student is expected to develop a prototype of a product/technique/method.

Knowledge and skills necessary to provide comprehensive care for newborns, newborn evaluation, breastfeeding support, vital signs monitoring, infection control and emergency response. Safe and effective nursing practices protect newborns' health and well-being in various healthcare settings.
