*IMPORTANT: This program is open to students from all universities. However, if you are not a Koç University student, the transfer of the credits is subject to the approval of your own university.

About The Course

Koç University has established a new collaboration with the Central European University for a two-week summer program on cultural heritage studies. The program involves in-class sessions at CEU combined with guided "heritage walks" in Budapest, as well as field trips to various parts of Hungary.

 

Credits:

6 ECTS / 3 KU credits

  • Approved area elective for ARHA and History students
  • Free elective for all other majors

Koç – CEU “Cultural Heritage” Summer Course Field Trips

 

1- North-Eastern Hungary

Eger (castle, museum, Ottoman monuments, historical library)

 

2- Danube Bend and Pilis Mountain Region:

Danube Bend, Visegrád (medieval castle, medieval palace, Franciscan friary, “Sibrik Hill” Roman period and medieval fortification), Pilis Mountain Region: Pilisszentkereszt (Cistercian monastery), Pomáz-Nagykovácsi-puszta (medieval pond system, church and glass production center), Pilisszentlélek (medieval Pauline monastery)

Pre-requisites:

  • Academic level: Undergrad, all years*
  • A minimum of 2,00 / 4,00 current GPA
  • A minimum of 80 IBT / 550 PBT TOEFL or 6.5 IELTS
  • A specific background is not required. Koç University invites all interested students to apply, regardless of their background or major

  • Online application form
  • Official up-to-date transcript (Not applies to Koç University students)
  • TOEFL or IELTS score sheet

Application deadline: June 30, 2018

 

*Accepted applicants will be announced on July 3. Upon your acceptance to the program, you will be required to pay 500 EUR as program deposit. This deposit will be deduced from the total program fee. Deadline to pay the deposit is July 10. If you cancel your participation at any point after you pay the program deposit, it will NOT be refunded to you. This deposit will be refunded only if Koç University cancels the program. 

 

Paying the deposit will put you on the applicants’ list, but will not secure you a spot in the program. Your participation will only be confirmed once you complete the payment.

Finances

 

Total program fee: 950 EUR

500 EUR program deposit to be paid between July 3 - 10

450 EUR second payment to be paid between July 10 - 17

 

*Price includes tuition, dorm accommodation in double rooms in Budapest including breakfast, and field trip costs (transportation, meals, museum entrances, booklet).

**Flight, visa, transportation and meal costs in Budapest, personal expenses, and other miscellaneous expenses are NOT included in the program fee.

The students are responsible for their own visa and flight arrangements. Koç University and/or CEU will provide you with an acceptance letter in need of a Schengen visa.

 

Participation will only be confirmed once the full payment of the program fee has been made.

  • June 30 – Application deadline
  • July 3 – Accepted applicants will be announced
  • July 10 – Deadline for participants to pay the program deposit of 500 EUR
  • July 17 - Deadline for participants to complete the payment of the rest of the program fee of 450 EUR

Cancellation Policy:

Applicant's placement in the program will be secured only after the full payment has been made. Cancellations will result in NO REFUND. The program fee will be refunded only if Koç University cancels the program.
