We are thrilled to share with you that our College of Administrative Sciences and Economics and Graduate School of Business have been granted accreditation by the global accreditation institution AACSB International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). Having previously attained Association of MBAs (AMBA) and EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) accreditations, we are now the first and only academic institution in Turkey to achieve the “Triple Crown” of the three most prestigious accreditations in this field.  Koc Univeristy  Annual Report covering our extensive activities, outstanding research projects and achievements during the pandemic has been published. Finally yet importantly, applications open for Academic English Program for Researchers which is designed for faculty members, Master’s and PhD students, and researchers who aim to improve their English language skills, academic and article writing skills, and their skills for teaching in English by integrating education Technologies; and Koç University İş Bankası Artificial Intelligence Center – KUIS AI is looking for talented and motivated graduate students to do research in all aspects of theoretical and applied Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Latest on Global Partnerships

 

 

OIP has been building partnerships with a wide range of leading universities, many of these being active for several years and have achieved excellence in their fields. The content of these partnerships varies from student exchange to faculty exchange, from research collaboration to the development of joint programs (degree, short-term, conferences, workshops, etc.), and from capacity building to articulation.

In a World surrounded by a global pandemic, networking is now more important than ever before. Koç University values being in continuous communication with its counterparts and OIP uses every chance to stay connected with its partners. APAIE Virtual Event on 23-24 March 2021 served well for this purpose.

Distant but Connected by Heart!: Student Experiences

Due to the COVID-19 measures, our incoming and outgoing students participated in exchange programs virtually in the 2020-21 Academic Year. Participating in a virtual exchange might seem as not quite what students expect in terms of the experience, however, with its easier logistics and great flexibility, our inbound and outbound students have been satisfied with the experience so far. During the Spring 21 semester, 50 incoming students from 18 countries all around the world and 10 Koç University students participated in a virtual exchange at our partner universities.

Social Innovation and Changemaking at Campus: Global Learning and Leadership for Sustainability (GLLS) & KU Global Aid (KUGA)

Global Learning and Leadership for Sustainability (GLLS), formerly known as Global Learning and Leadership Program (GLLP), has a new, sustainability-focused program outline for Koc University students. The relaunch of the GLLS program creates a greater interest in sustainable changemaking for students. In that manner, University Innovation Fellow 2020 Cohort, selected from GLLS students, started to implement two of their project ideas that aim to better  the campus experience for the university community with the collaboration of various internal stakeholders in Fall 2020.

 

 

KU Global Aid (KUGA), on the other hand, is an international service-learning program at Koç University, working to build awareness and solidarity in the world. In Fall 2020, KUGA launched a series of KUGA Talks and the Coexistence Panel to invite guests to inspire Koc University students to increase their awareness in changemaking. Last but not least, KUGA program now has a participation certification opportunity for KUGA students who complete the requirements.

Office of International Programs offers five online short summer programs this year! The programs have been designed with top-notch academic quality and are fully interactive with live lectures. In all five programs, students coming from partner institutions of Koç University will get a 15% discount on the tuition. Also, you get a free spot for every 3 students you send. To eliminate the difficulties due to time difference, lectures will be recorded and shared with the registered students.

Global Programs & Projects: Banuu Project Training

On February 23 - 24, as the second work package leader of the Banuu Project (Erasmus+ KA2 Capacity Building Project in Higher Education) we organized training sessions on "Internship Framing". The participants who are administrative staff members were identified by the team leaders of the four Iraqi partner universities. Assist. Prof. Çiğdem Maner, Career Development Center Director Ms. Tuna Dağlı, Research Center for Mediterranean Civilizations (AKMED) Director Prof. Oğuz Tekin, and Vehbi Koç Ankara Studies Research Center (VEKAM) Director Prof. Filiz Yenisehirlioglu were amongst the prominent trainers. Our colleague Ömer Eskici, Exchange Programs and Partnerships Assistant Specialist, has also contributed to the training with his presentation on Erasmus+ ICM & Traineeships.

UNIC Steps Towards European University  

UNIC, the European University of Post-Industrial Cities, is an institution composed of eight universities from eight European countries committed to boosting mobility and inclusion for societal impact under the framework of European Commission’s “European Universities” initiative. 
UNIC brought people together from different countries and backgrounds with two different events in March and April 2020; the first in a series of UNIC Seminars "Superdiversity and Inclusion in Higher Education: Concepts and Practices" webinar and UNIC Creathon!

International Community News

While the ongoing COVID-19 measures forced the majority of university operations to move online, the ICO’s online events, webinars, and projects kept its growth momentum. In Spring 2021, the office launched a new online project, namely Cultural Showcase, initiated a Quarterly Newsletter, re-formatted its News Update publication, and improved its Turkish Practice Hours while keeping up its Instagram interviews. The use of social media played a vital role in office visibility and thus delivering important legal and social announcements in addition to emails. It was crucial during the pandemic since it was the most active way to reach out to international students. Spring 2021 has been a semester, where the ICO focused more on intercultural engagement, community empowerment, and providing accurate news and updates flow in addition to its immigration-related profession.
